So currently our primary AD domain is called contosolongname.com
The domain was setup before I started so I know that ending the local domain with .com was not the best practice and they most likely should have ended it with something like .local
Either way, we are looking to potentially buy a better/shorter domain that more closely matches our company and I was wondering if this was a good time to "re-do" the domain name.
If our old domain was contosolongname.com, our new one would be contoso.com and I would make the local domain be contoso.local
We have an Exchange 2010 environment and most of our servers are 2008 R2 (as our DCs).
Is this something I should look at tackling?
