On some of our PCs, there are a few programs I wish to block, via Group Policy. This is for both Windows XP and Windows 8 PCs. Note that I don't want to completly block internet access on these PCs, there are some programs that require access to the internet.
So I created a new OU, and moved the PCs into it. the attached Group Policy, and moved the PCs into the group. Then I created the attached policy.
I'm going to block several programs, but for this example I've just listed IE and Outlook. It works fine for blocking Outlook, but there are ways around it for IE.
1) On XP, it will block IE from the Start Menu or Taskbar. But you can still launch IE via the desktop shortcut.
2) On Windows 8, IE won't launch from the Taskbar. But you can still run it from the Tiles/Metro* interface.
I wonder is there another IE file I could block as...
