Keeping active directory user data local

Up until now, I have been migrating accounts or keeping them as local, non-domain accounts. But now I am setting up a new PC and need to create a fresh account. I want the account to be a domain account but I don't want to give it folder redirection. Its fine if the user logs into another computer but I want all of the user data to be kept locally on the new PC, not in shared folders or folder redirection on the server. Do I simply add the new PC to the domain and create an account using a domain admin on the new PC? I can't seem to find documentation on this case.
